Since my last iPhone photo of the week post, I have a new phone. I have upgraded from the iPhone SE to the new iPhone 8 Plus and wow, what a difference it makes.
I think I might take them both out this weekend and then write a comparison post to highlight just how much more capable the 8 Plus is.
For my photo of the week, I chose this picture of the Conference Center in Roanoke. This definitely wasn’t the best composed shot I took this week, but I really like the dynamic range and how the leaves have started to change on the tree to the left. This picture is exactly how the phone captured it with no additional processing done by me.
It has been way too long. Almost three years since my last post on this blog. There is so much that has happened since the Fall of 2014. Here is a quick recap:
Late Fall 2014 – Family moved back to Delaware from Pittsburgh
Summer 2015 – Interned with CPA firm and got offered full-time job for after graduation
Fall 2015 – Spring 2016 – Wrote my senior theses and finished my last year of college
May 2016 – Received my Bachelors degree in accounting and married my beautiful wife.
Summer 2016 – Worked for a manufacturing company (potato chips!)
Fall 2016 – Present – Working for that CPA firm and enjoying Roanoke with my wife
That was a pretty high level review, but thought I should let everyone know what has happened since my last post.
So, until the next time I post (most likely another “iPhone Photo of the Week” post), here are some pictures to hold you over.

Also, I have started another blog. It is titled “An Accountant’s Life,” but is not limited to my experience as a public accountant (not that exciting), but also my takes on current events and things that I care about. So if you would like to take a look at my content over there, that would be cool! Otherwise, stay tuned for more “Macro Masterpieces.”
Trying to get back in the swing of things and back into the routine of posting weekly. It is fall here in Lynchburg, Virginia, and as of this post, it is past peak when it comes to the changing color of the landscape.
This week’s iPhone Photo of the Week is taken at my school. Liberty University’s campus is split by a four-lane divided highway. This picture was taken from the eastern portion of campus looking towards the main academic building, Demoss Hall. I used the HDR setting on my iPhone to make sure that I was able to get enough exposure on the campus while keeping the beauty of the fall sky and the color of the leaves in the foreground.
While I can’t say that my only reason for not posting is being busy, it has been a big part. During my summer, I worked a lot and at one point was working over 40 hours a week (which was new to me). It was a rewarding experience.
Since my last post, not only have I started a new semester, but just under two weeks ago I proposed to my beautiful girlfriend, Ashley, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and she said yes!
Here are some pictures to recap what has gone on since my last appearance in the blogosphere.
It’s been a busy week and I have not been blogging as much as I would like, but I have enough time to do a quick iPhone Photo of the Week post. This picture comes from a bike ride I took with my parents last week around Pittsburgh. A wedding ceremony had just then taken place and you can see the bride in the bottom of the picture. I chose this as the photo of the week because of the church and I tried to use the HDR setting on my phone as well.
Last week, Ashley, my parents and I went into downtown Pittsburgh. My parents were doing some genealogical research so Ashley and I did some more wandering around downtown. We walked over to the north side for a little bit and walked along the river. There was a chance of rain so the lighting was pretty good for pictures. Ashley and I really enjoy spending time together exploring and taking pictures so it was a really nice time. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures I was able to take during our most recent visit to Pittsburgh.

The Andy Warhol bridge.
Ashley pointed out to me that someone had put a cigarette in the statue’s hand. I like how this one came out.

She was having fun, but then she got a little more wet than she wanted.
Uniondale cemetery on the north side of Pittsburgh. We came here after downtown for my mom to do some grave hunting.
I took very few pictures with my phone this past week, but today as a storm rolled through I took a panorama of the sky from the back deck and decided it would have to do. I hope you enjoy the way the sky looks as storm clouds come through and I’d love to see your pictures of storms as well. Comment a link to a picture below and I’ll check it out!
