It’s been a busy week and I have not been blogging as much as I would like, but I have enough time to do a quick iPhone Photo of the Week post. This picture comes from a bike ride I took with my parents last week around Pittsburgh. A wedding ceremony had just then taken place and you can see the bride in the bottom of the picture. I chose this as the photo of the week because of the church and I tried to use the HDR setting on my phone as well.
Last week, Ashley, my parents and I went into downtown Pittsburgh. My parents were doing some genealogical research so Ashley and I did some more wandering around downtown. We walked over to the north side for a little bit and walked along the river. There was a chance of rain so the lighting was pretty good for pictures. Ashley and I really enjoy spending time together exploring and taking pictures so it was a really nice time. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures I was able to take during our most recent visit to Pittsburgh.
The US Steel building.
BNY Melon building on left.
My dad waiting to cross the street.
Ceiling of entrance to the City-County Building
New PNC Bank headquarters under construction.
PNC sign made up of various plants.
The Andy Warhol bridge.
Ashley pointed out to me that someone had put a cigarette in the statue’s hand. I like how this one came out.
I like taking pictures of locks.

Runners on the Roberto Clemente bridge.
PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) plaza.
Little girl enjoying the fountain in PPG Plaza.
She was having fun, but then she got a little more wet than she wanted.
Uniondale cemetery on the north side of Pittsburgh. We came here after downtown for my mom to do some grave hunting.
I took very few pictures with my phone this past week, but today as a storm rolled through I took a panorama of the sky from the back deck and decided it would have to do. I hope you enjoy the way the sky looks as storm clouds come through and I’d love to see your pictures of storms as well. Comment a link to a picture below and I’ll check it out!
My submission for Monochrome Monday this week is a picture of the City Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is currently the tallest all stone (masonic) building in the world and it is definitely a beautiful structure. I was able to take this picture a couple weeks ago when my family, Ashley, and I went to Philly for a few hours. Ashley and I were able to walk around for an hour and a half and take pictures. I really like the way the lighting worked out in this one and how well the contrast looks in monochrome as well. The original picture is included in the gallery at the end of the post.
Earlier this week, in my post about the walk Ashley and I took to take pictures around Ocean City, I posted a few pictures of the boardwalk amusement parks that were closed during the week. On Saturday, our last day in Ocean City, Ashley and I were able to visit those parks twice. First during the day and again at night. My favorite picture from during the day would probably be this one of the chair swing with the ferris wheel in the background. I like the brightness of the day and it looks like the little girl on the swing is enjoying herself.
We were also able to take a ride on the big ferris wheel and get a couple pictures of the view and enjoy our first ever ferris wheel ride together.
One of the things I most looked forward to while in Ocean City, New Jersey was watching the sunrise over the ocean. Not only was I able to see a few good sunrises I was also able to see a beautiful sunset the night before we returned to Pittsburgh. The sunrise that is in the pictures below ended up better than we expected. Because of the heavy cloud cover, we were afraid that we might not see anything, but after a little patience, the sun came up above the clouds instead of above the horizon and it looked great.
For sunset, we drove over to a pretty much random street near the Longport/Ocean City Bridge to take pictures of the sunsetting over Great Egg Harbor Bay. I hope you enjoy these scenes as much as we did when we witnessed them.
Last week’s photo of the week was a sunrise and this week’s is a sunset picture. This was taken the last night we were in Ocean City on the bayside of the island. I didn’t take many pictures with my phone in the last week so this one won the best picture I took with my phone over the week.
