iPhone Photo of the Week (Week 13)

Trying to get back in the swing of things and back into the routine of posting weekly. It is fall here in Lynchburg, Virginia, and as of this post, it is past peak when it comes to the changing color of the landscape.

This week’s iPhone Photo of the Week is taken at my school. Liberty University’s campus is split by a four-lane divided highway. This picture was taken from the eastern portion of campus looking towards the main academic building, Demoss Hall. I used the HDR setting on my iPhone to make sure that I was able to get enough exposure on the campus while keeping the beauty of the fall sky and the color of the leaves in the foreground.

iPhone Photo of the Week (Week 7)

This past week has been a little crazy for me. Today is the last day of class and I worked a game for the last time this semester on Sunday. Friday (4/25) greeted us with rain, but the rain subsided in time for the 7pm baseball game. Because of the clouds, I knew there would be a good opportunity for a picture during the game so I patiently waited by the patio at the stadium waiting for the opportunity to arrive.  Continue reading iPhone Photo of the Week (Week 7)

“Out of Line”

Walking to my dorm from the last home softball game of the season, I noticed one link in the fence that was not in line with the others and happened to have a cobweb hanging from it. I had to take a picture of it and it came out so much better than I had expected.

I named the picture “Out of Line” because the one chain link almost seems like a rebel; trying to escape from its mundane, uniform, dull existence.

Building Profile: Demoss Hall

In an attempt to diversify my photography and thanks to inspiration from seeing other bloggers’ work, I’ve decided to do periodic (preferably weekly) profiles of buildings that I see all the time, but take for granted.

Today’s building profile looks at the Arthur S. Demoss Learning Center (more popularly known as Demoss Hall). Demoss Hall houses a vast majority of classes for Liberty University’s residential students. Demoss is one of the oldest buildings on campus as well as one of the largest. At four stories tall, it’s grand entrance with white columns, a beautiful fountain, and a wide staircase is an icon of the university’s campus.DSC_1122

iPhone Photo of the Week (Week 6)

Finally, a change from the weekly flower pictures! On Thursday, when I was walking to my 7:40am class at Demoss Hall, I noticed through my grogginess that the sun shining on the front of Demoss was a nice, warm yellow color. Thankfully I was awake enough to not want to look like a fool stopping to take a picture of Demoss on the way to class so I slyly pulled my phone out, opened the camera and held the camera at my hip and snapped the photo while I walked in.

Flower Friday

I would love to commit to doing “Flower Friday” every week, but I know winter will come eventually, so from now on I will try to put together a post with a common theme that has a compilation of macro pictures. This week just happens to be flowers (and I like alliteration). These pictures were all taken with my new camera this week on Liberty University’s campus. This one would probably be my favorite this week:

I love the sunshine in this picture and the texture it creates. These are the only red flowers I've really seen on campus so far.

It finally looks like Spring and as I walk around campus I just love taking pictures of all the blossoming trees on campus. I hope you enjoy the way these look as well!

Spring Break (Part 1)

It has been a while since I have posted on here and that is because Spring Break 2014 is going on. Last week I was busy writing three papers for my classes and was not able to sit down to publish a post. Now, after half a week back at home in Pittsburgh, I’m back at school, working a baseball game and I have some time to write.

Ashley and I had a great time back in Pittsburgh. We enjoyed a couple of 60+ degree days and got to stay inside on the cold and rainy ones. More to come in the next posts!
